HELP SAVE LAHAINA’S BELOVED TREES
What is #saveTheSurvivors and its mission?
@saveTheSurvivors is an effort by arborist Steve Thomas whose company Tree Doctor 911 dates back to 1938. In his career, he has traveled the world and saved trees that others thought impossible to save. He visited Lahaina in April 2024 and was concerned that too many trees that could be saved. Thomas is appealing to local officials to consider tree-healing techniques that can help revive many trees and return them to health.
Feeding
Fire damage has made it difficult for some trees to feed. Like an ICU patient, these trees need to be fed using special techniques that will allow them to be nourished as they regain their strength.
Strength
What many people, including those in the field of working with plants and trees, don’t realize is how amazingly resilient trees are. These guardians of time have with stood ages of challenge and recovered.

Steve Thomas’ team include PhD level biologists who have developed techniques to help the trees.

In countries across the world, including Costa Rica and Brazil, and throughout the US, Steve Thomas has saved trees.

Costa Rica’s Blue Flag Ecological Program helps protect both the environmental and social landscapes of the country, and is a testament to the exceptional service the tree doctor has provided in there.
